My most recent portfolio, Still Life, finds inspiration in Dutch and Flemish seventeenth-century still life and vanitas paintings. It is perhaps fitting that in my seventh decade, I am drawn to vanitas sensibilities. These tabletop compositions are carefully created for the camera and lit to echo the master works of those northern latitudes. The story-telling nature of the compositions seems to me a natural extension of earlier portfolios and as a bonus – these photographs allow the use of some really cool objects.
