Kung Fu, the television series, premiered on ABC in 1972 and continued for three seasons, through 1975, for a total of 63 episodes. It starred David Carradine as Kwai Chang Caine, the orphaned son of an American man and Chinese woman, who grew up in a Shaolin Monastery in China, where he trained as a Shaolin priest and martial arts expert.

The series follows Caine through the American West as he searches for family roots and his half brother, Danny. Caine fled China after avenging the murder of his beloved master and was destined to wonder the west. Though meek and difficult to provoke, his dress and manner make him a target and his sense of justice finds him ready to fight for the underdog. After each encounter (and they happen in every episode) Caine must move on to avoid capture.
